YARD NYC’s “Send Nudes” posters reveal a breast-awareness message

“Send Nudes” appears on posters across New York with a QR code. Following it reveals the rest of the request. The photographs are intended for the person taking them.

YARD NYC’s October 2026 breast-awareness campaign uses that change of recipient to give a familiar phrase a different purpose. “Send Nudes. To Yourself.” asks women to become more familiar with their breasts by keeping a personal photographic reference.

The campaign runs during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and continues through the end of October. Its message connects the habit of taking photographs with paying attention to changes in one’s own body.

The website supplies the missing words

The posters lead to sendnudestoyourself.com, where the campaign explains the request and links to breast-health information.

The short street message creates a question that the website answers. Once “to yourself” is added, the meaning shifts from a request made by someone else to an action taken for personal awareness.

That wording gives the campaign a clear sequence. The poster attracts attention, the QR code leads to the explanation, and the website provides context and resources.

The outdoor placements include North 7th Street and Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg and the area near Dimes Square on the Lower East Side. These locations put the opening message into everyday journeys through the city.

A personal experience informed the campaign

The initiative was informed by CEO Ruth Bernstein’s experience with early breast cancer and her interest in helping women recognise changes.

YARD NYC’s own explanation draws attention to how closely people can notice changes in their faces, hair and other parts of their bodies while feeling less familiar with their breasts.

The campaign’s proposed action is to save a photograph privately as a reference. Its accompanying line, “Take a pic. Know your tits,” makes that invitation direct.

The agency also states that photographs are no substitute for recommended screening. The initiative is a prompt for familiarity and attention, with the website directing visitors towards information about breast changes and symptoms.

The reminder extends beyond the street

Social media, limited-edition stickers and merchandise extend the campaign. Short phrases associated with dating and messaging culture, including “You Up?” and “Pic?”, carry the same invitation into other formats.

These extensions keep the language consistent with the posters. The words begin with an established association, then acquire a health-related meaning through the campaign’s explanation.

The intended destination remains personal. The photograph is something to keep for oneself, giving the campaign’s opening request a purpose centred on awareness of one’s own body.
