Marvel brings its superheroes to Seoul’s night sky with a 2,000-drone Halloween show

Marvel’s superheroes became the subject of a giant aerial display over Seoul’s Han River, turning the night sky into a setting for familiar characters and cinematic imagery.

The “Marvel Special” was the Halloween finale of the city’s 2026 Hangang Drone Light Show programme. Held at Ttukseom Hangang Park in Seoul, South Korea, the event brought together a drone performance, music and activities connected to the Marvel universe.

A superhero spectacle above the river

The October 31 programme featured 2,000 drones, with the main performance scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Iron Man was among the characters announced for the show, alongside other Marvel heroes and scenes from the franchise. The image shared on social media also depicts Thor holding his hammer, outlined in lights against the darkness.

The format gave the characters a different scale. Instead of appearing within a cinema screen, their illuminated forms became part of the skyline, visible to audiences gathered along the river.

Avengers: Doomsday gave fans a photo opportunity

The experience extended beyond the aerial display with a photo zone themed around Avengers: Doomsday.

Inspired by Doctor Doom’s throne and stained-glass imagery, the installation gave visitors a setting for their own photographs. It connected the broader celebration of Marvel characters with the upcoming film.

The accompanying social media event offered merchandise to the first 1,000 participants, with the activity running from noon to 7 p.m.

Costumes and music added to the experience

A costume parade and event booths gave visitors more ways to take part. Cultural performances surrounded the drone show, making the aerial sequence the centrepiece of a longer evening programme.

JBL Professional sound equipment, supported through HARMAN International and Techdata PS, paired the visual formations with music.

The combination created several different points of contact with the franchise: watching heroes overhead, stepping into a themed photo setting and participating through costumes and social posts.

A free public stage for Marvel

Admission was free, with no advance registration required.

That public setting gave the experience a broad audience, bringing Marvel imagery into a city event where people could encounter it together. The drone display supplied the spectacle, while the activities on the ground gave fans something personal to do and share.
