Louis Vuitton turned its Hong Kong refurbishment into a grand train station

Arched windows, a station clock and a Monogram-covered exterior give Louis Vuitton’s LANDMARK façade the appearance of a railway terminal. Trunk-like borders and fittings connect the architectural scene to the luggage that helped establish the House.

Unveiled in October 2026, “Louis Vuitton Central Station” transforms the hoarding around the boutique during refurbishment into a large-scale expression of the brand’s Art of Travel.

The installation also celebrates 130 years of the Louis Vuitton Monogram, making the familiar pattern part of a scene that people can encounter from the street.

Construction hoarding becomes the main attraction

A refurbishment creates an awkward period for a retail brand. The store is changing, but its exterior remains in public view.

Louis Vuitton uses that temporary surface to tell a story about travel. The station design gives the covered frontage a recognisable architectural identity, while the Monogram and trunk details make the connection to the House clear.

The composition works at two scales. From a distance, the arches and clock establish the station. Closer inspection reveals the luggage references across its surface.

The setting also connects with Hong Kong’s transport history, giving the brand’s global travel theme a local point of reference.

The Monogram anniversary takes architectural form

The 130th anniversary gives the installation a specific occasion. Instead of containing the Monogram within a product display, Louis Vuitton spreads it across the station façade.

That treatment connects the motif to the House’s longstanding relationship with journeys, luggage and movement. A building-sized station becomes a setting in which the pattern’s history can be read.

The Hong Kong project follows earlier large-scale façade installations in Paris in September 2023, New York in November 2024 and Shanghai in June 2025.

The journey continues inside LANDMARK

The wider experience includes a train-inspired pop-up featuring collections, leather goods, travel items, accessories and gifts.

A basement exhibition develops the heritage story through archival references, staged environments and crafted details across a sequence of rooms.

These elements give the exterior somewhere to lead. The façade introduces the travel theme to passers-by, the exhibition offers a closer encounter with the House’s history, and the pop-up connects that narrative with products.

Louis Vuitton says the façade’s construction materials will later be reused or recycled.

The temporary nature of the installation is central to its role. During the boutique’s transformation, the hoarding becomes an experience of its own, keeping Louis Vuitton’s travel story visible at street level.
