Shenron and Goku lead LEGO’s first Dragon Ball collaboration with Toei Animation

Share

LEGO’s first Dragon Ball set begins with a summoning. Shenron rises from the seven Dragon Balls, with a young Goku riding his flying cloud nearby.

The scene introduces a new partnership between the LEGO Group and Toei Animation. Its first release, LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku, brings Akira Toriyama’s characters into a 1,764-piece model designed for adult builders.

Dragon Ball follows Goku’s adventures through a world of martial arts, powerful opponents and wish-granting Dragon Balls. For this opening release, LEGO draws from the original animated series, placing the younger version of its hero alongside the dragon at the centre of that mythology.

The set is scheduled for general release on 4 November 2026, with more Dragon Ball sets planned for 2027.

Animation frames shaped the LEGO build

The design team studied animation frames and classic poses to translate Shenron into LEGO elements. His long, looping body presented a particular construction challenge, requiring building techniques that could reproduce the character’s shape while supporting a standing display.

The finished model measures over 32 cm high, 24 cm long and 26 cm wide. That scale gives the dragon room to coil above the base while keeping Goku part of the same scene.

Shenron’s head and claws can be adjusted. Goku’s minifigure, riding the Kintoun cloud, can also be detached and repositioned. Builders can change the arrangement after completing the model, choosing how the characters sit together on display.

The seven Dragon Balls anchor the build at its base. Their inclusion ties the construction to the act of summoning Shenron, giving the set a specific story for fans to recognise.

Young Goku places the debut in the original series

The choice of Kid Goku gives the collaboration a clear starting point. His flying cloud, Power Pole and tail connect the minifigure to the character’s early adventures.

That reference matters for a franchise with several animated series and generations of fans. The first set establishes its place through a particular version of Goku and a scene drawn from Dragon Ball’s central mythology.

The adult-focused LEGO Icons format adds another way to engage with those characters. Fans can spend time constructing the scene, then keep it as a display in their home or workspace. Familiar animation becomes something they assemble themselves.

A November launch opens a longer partnership

LEGO Insiders will receive early access from 1 November 2026. General availability follows on 4 November through LEGO stores and the brand’s online shop.

The announced retail prices are €139.99 in Europe, £129.99 in the UK and $179.99 in the US. The set carries product number 11390 and is recommended for builders aged 18 and above.

The partnership will continue with additional Dragon Ball releases in 2027. Shenron & Goku supplies the first chapter, beginning with the original series and an encounter that fans can now recreate piece by piece.
