McDonald’s makes a Halloween look out of getting sauce on your face

Getting sauce on your face usually happens by accident. McDonald’s UK has made it the idea behind “Spooky Sauces,” a Halloween campaign that reimagines its dips as face paints.

Created with Leo UK, the collection brings familiar sauce names into a makeup kit. Fries become brush handles, a Chicken McNugget inspires the sponge, and sauce-style packs hold the colours.

The campaign launched on TikTok and Instagram on October 16, 2026, giving fans a new way to wear their enthusiasm for the menu.

The menu becomes a makeup kit

Six shades make up the collection: Sweet N’ Spooky, Tomb-Mato Ketchup, Curry Cauldron, Boo-Boo-Q, Sweet Chills and Garlic MayOoOo.

The names carry the Halloween treatment through the range. Small details on the packaging add to it, including bats, a ghost, a cauldron and vampire teeth.

The kit opens to reveal a mirror and a red interior, with dedicated spaces for the face paints, brushes and nugget-shaped sponge. Its black case and theatrical presentation give the everyday sauce references a different setting.

The tools keep the idea connected to McDonald’s even when the labels are out of view. A brush shaped like a fry and a sponge resembling a nugget make the act of applying makeup part of the joke.

A dramatic reveal sets up the transformation

The launch film presents the collection against a velvet backdrop, using spotlights, close-up shots, a spooky gloved hand and ASMR-style sound effects.

That treatment gives the kit the attention of a beauty-product reveal. The familiar food shapes provide the surprise as viewers discover what each tool and paint is based on.

The creative starts with a small observation about eating fries and nuggets: sauce sometimes ends up somewhere unintended. Halloween supplies a reason to put it there deliberately, translated into face paint.

The result gives the brand’s sauces a role in getting ready for the occasion as well as eating during it.

Creators show what fans can make

An Instagram competition followed on October 17, offering the chance to win one of 100 face paint sets. Entrants were asked to tag a friend and suggest which McDonald’s item that person should become for Halloween.

The prompt extends the idea beyond the sauces themselves. A costume or makeup look can take inspiration from the menu, restaurant or packaging.

UK creators are producing original looks and tutorials through October 31, while McDonald’s plans to interact with and repost fan creations.

The kit supplies the starting materials, but the finished looks give the campaign room to change from person to person. Each interpretation turns another recognisable piece of McDonald’s into something people can wear.
