Argos pairs childhood Christmas gifts with their grown-up upgrades

Argos is opening the family photo album for a Christmas campaign that connects the presents people remember receiving as children with the gifts they might want today.
Created by T&P, the outdoor work places “Christmas Past” beside “Christmas Present,” using nostalgic snapshots and contemporary products to show how familiar interests can carry into adulthood.
From Game Boy to Nintendo Switch 2
Each execution makes a direct connection between an old favourite and a modern gift.
A portable CD player is paired with Beats headphones, while a Game Boy makes way for a Nintendo Switch 2. A Mr Frosty is matched with a Ninja slush machine, and a Barbie styling head finds its grown-up counterpart in a Dyson hair styler.
The pairings keep the idea easy to follow. Music, gaming, making frozen drinks and experimenting with hairstyles remain recognisable interests, even as the products change.
For someone choosing a present, that creates a useful starting point: think about what the recipient has always enjoyed.

An old logo brings back the catalogue years
The campaign also brings back the historic Argos logo, adding another familiar detail to its childhood Christmas scenes.
For shoppers who remember browsing the catalogue and circling their wish lists, the branding helps connect those memories with the retailer’s current range.
The photographs give the products a personal context. Rather than simply showing an older item beside a newer one, the childhood images recall the experience of receiving a much-wanted present.
A reminder that Argos sells more than toys
The line “There’s more to Argos than toys” gives the nostalgia a clear retail purpose.
The campaign uses childhood gifting as an introduction to products adults might put on their own wish lists. Its message asks shoppers to extend an existing association with Argos into new categories and stages of life.
The old gift supplies the memory; the current product supplies a reason to shop.
Part of “Tales of Argos Past”
The outdoor executions sit within Argos’s wider 2026 Christmas campaign, “Tales of Argos Past.”
The accompanying advert features Richard Ayoade alongside brand characters Connie and Trevor, with a festive nod to A Christmas Carol. Across the campaign, looking back becomes a way to introduce what Argos offers today.
