Firefox reunites the internet’s original meme stars to ask former users to come back

Numa Numa Guy, Bad Luck Brian and Overly Attached Girlfriend are back, with a message for people who remember discovering them online.
Mozilla’s “Come Back to Firefox” campaign reunites familiar viral personalities to address frustrations with today’s web. Created by We Believers, it connects memories of a playful internet with Firefox’s pitch for more privacy and user control.
The campaign targets people who previously used the browser and moved away.
Familiar personalities make new complaints
The cast includes Tay Zonday, Annoying Orange, Success Kid, Apparently Kid, Chuck Testa, Kelly from “Shoes,” Where the Hell Is Matt? and Evolution of Dance.
Their established identities give the campaign its jokes. Overly Attached Girlfriend’s interest in knowing everything about someone becomes a way to question browser tracking. Annoying Orange supplies a comparison for the irritation of unwanted AI features.
The humour relies on recognition, but each reference leads towards a present-day concern. Viewers are invited to remember the character, then reconsider something about their current browsing experience.
Recreating the videos people remember
Directing collective Sunny Sixteen and production company nobodys recreated the personalities’ original performances, styling and settings.
Rooms, wardrobe, lighting and camera texture received attention, including the imperfections that helped the original clips feel spontaneous.
Those details matter to the reunion. The familiar look makes the return recognisable before the campaign introduces its new message.
The film also brings the cast together to dance to O-Zone’s “Dragostea Din Tei,” the track associated with Numa Numa Guy’s viral performance.
Nostalgia gives the return invitation a purpose
“Come Back to Firefox” asks for a specific action from a specific audience: former users taking another look at the browser.
The campaign positions Firefox as an independent alternative to browsers owned by major technology companies. Mozilla connects that position to its emphasis on privacy and people deciding how they want to use AI.
The promise is about greater control over the current web, with familiar faces providing the emotional connection to return.
Two television spots begin the rollout
The campaign launched in the United States on October 25, 2026, with two 30-second commercials airing on NBC.
Germany, France and the United Kingdom were announced as the next markets, extending the invitation beyond the initial US launch.
